ABOUT THE EIGHTH PETERSBURG INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC FORUM
According to the decree, issued by the President of the Russian Federation and to the decisions, taken by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eighth Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held in the Tavricheskiy Palace in Saint Petersburg from 14th to 18th June 2004.
The Forum is an annual event convened under patronage of the President of the Russian Federation. Heads of states and governments, heads of parliaments, leaders of international organizations, representatives of economic and political elite take active part in it. It is considered to be the main economic summit of Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The motto of this year's Forum is "Efficient Economy - Worthy Life". It will pay special attention to development of economic relations of the European Union with Russia and other CIS countries, implementation of economic and social reforms, development of modern information technologies, attraction of investments, accession of new countries to the World Trade Organization and other issues. Within the framework of the Forum a special Forum of Entrepreneurs of the CIS countries will be held.
The working languages of the Forum are Russian and English.
