SCHOLARSHIPS OF THE RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT
TO STUDY IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
(AUSTRALIA)

Russia has vast experience in the educational field. Our specialists in science and languages have good job opportunities and enjoy acknowledgement throughout the world.

Currently there is a common understanding that one of the major aspects of our improving bilateral relations is education. During his visit to Russia in April 2010, the then Foreign Minister Mr. Stephen Smith announced Endeavour Awards for Russia (more information can be found at www.deewr.gov.au/International/EndeavourAwards). In 2010, a number of Russian candidates succeeded in applying for the Awards.

Russia also extends 2 scholarships for Australian students and post-graduate students in 2011. A candidate can choose between different levels of education to obtain in Russia:

Bachelor of Science / Arts;
Master of Science / Arts;
Specialist;
Post-graduate studies / PhD course;
Post-graduate studies / Post-Doctoral Programme;
Short-term courses / Internships.

Application should consist of the following documents:

1) Application form and photo 4-6 sm.

2) A copy of the passport (it must expire later then 1,5 year from the commencement of the students visa).

3) A copy of the graduation certificate with a list of completed subjects and examination marks translated into Russia and notarized by the Embassy or Consulate-General in Sydney. Post-graduates are expected to present a summary on the topic of their future research; candidates for short-term courses are to supply a translated plan of their internship in Russia. Please send a list of research publications if available.

4) A copy of a medical certificate advising that a candidate does not have any of the medical contraindications for admission of foreigners to Russian higher educational institutes (including HIV).

Non-Russian speaking candidates participate in Russian language courses up to 1 year.

A candidate needs to apply to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Australia by 1 April 2011. A joint commission representing Russian and Australian sides implements the first stage of selection of candidates, then the chosen applications are forwarded to the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

Please note that the school year in Russia commences on 1 September. Therefore the elected students shall not arrive in Russia later 15 September, post-graduates and participants of short-term courses must not arrive later 15 November.

Russia provides to those succeeded student’s visas, education in one of the higher educational institutes / universities – participants of the Programme. Australians are also provided with accommodation (university hostel) and monthly allowance which varies from approximately 40 US dollars for students to 50 US dollars for post-graduates.

The Russian side is not responsible for transport expenses of an applicant (airplane tickets, etc) and medical insurance (usually up to 250 US dollars per year).
